Abstract

"Understanding help-seeking behaviour of adults experiencing recurrent isolated sleep paralysis: A qualitative analysis using the the-ory of planned behaviour" by Máire McGeehan, Michelle Tomas and Jonathan Egan

Recurrent Isolated Sleep Paralysis refers to a parasomnia associated with a transient expe-rience of being conscious of surroundings while not being able to move. It is associated with frightening hallucinations and the experience can produce clinically significant distress and fear. Individuals rarely present to a healthcare professional, which has implications for diag-nosis, treatment and outcomes. This study aimed to identify types and sources of help sought by adults with recurrent isolated sleep paralysis and identify potential barriers to seeking help.
