About the Journal

Established in 2020, Perspectives on Trauma provides an international forum for sharing best clinical practice, analysing theory, and exploring the complexities of working with trauma.
Our vision is to create a professional space where clinicians, researchers, educators, and community practitioners exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and advance the field of trauma recovery.

We publish work that links evidence-based, neurobiological, somatic, systemic, and community-centred perspectives. The journal emphasises practical frameworks for trauma recovery grounded in somatic and embodied practices (4th Wave/Generation) and community-centred approaches (5th Wave/Generation) that reduce re-traumatisation. While these newer approaches are central, contributions drawing on earlier generations of trauma therapy are equally welcome.

What We Publish

Perspectives on Trauma welcomes submissions that make an original contribution to the field of trauma, including:

  • Research Articles – empirical or qualitative studies expanding understanding of trauma and recovery.

  • Theoretical and Conceptual Papers – analyses of models, mechanisms, or new frameworks in trauma theory.

  • Case Studies – reflective accounts of individual, group, or community interventions.

  • Review Articles – critical or creative reviews that synthesise evidence and practice.

  • Practice & Training Guides – practical frameworks for clinicians, supervisors, and educators.

  • Policy Insights / Commentaries – discussion pieces exploring implications for trauma-informed systems, governance, or public policy.
